The Gifts of The Holy Spirit – Hip Operation and Heart To Heart Ministries

September 2020

For years, I had seen my friend Sue at church but never knew who she was. As she sat quietly in a pew in the sanctuary during the service, I recall glancing over my shoulder, looking at the sea of Christians who were worshiping our Lord, there she was listening intently with a smile and a sense of peace about her. It wasn’t until years later when I was recovering from a hip operation that I received a call from the senior pastor’s secretary who introduced me to a prayer ministry that our church has. She asked if I would like someone to pray with me, to which I agreed because although there was another person present to help me recover, I felt somewhat alone. Days later I received a phone call. On the other end of the line was an angelic voice saying, “Hello, this is Susan and I’ve heard that you are recovering from a hip operation and was wondering if you would like someone to pray with you. I think I’ve seen you at church but I don’t know for sure if you are the person that I am thinking of. Do you wear really colorful clothes and are you a blonde lady?” “Yes, I replied, I think I know who you are too. Are you a slender, tall blonde who sits on the left side of the sanctuary?” “Yes, she replied, I think I’ve seen you too.” She began to lift me up in prayer and asked for God’s healing power to work in and through me and bring me to a full recovery. Time passed and one day she called to see how I was doing and was amazed to hear that I was now walking and well on my way to making a full recovery. We agreed to meet at church and meet each other face to face. When we made the connection, we realized that; yes indeed, we had seen each other over the years but never really got to know each other until God brought this wonderful woman who is blessed with “The Gift of Helps” in the Holy Spirit that a wonderful friendship began. As time has gone on we discover just how alike we are in many ways and realize just how very blessed we are by each other’s friendship which goes to show that God brings people into your lives when you need them the most to pray, support, encourage and inspire and blesses you with the gift of friendship. He’s an amazing God, isn’t he? If you have a story to share or a comment to make, please post it and share your story too.
